Swampscott-native Anne Quagrello has been named the new executive director of the Seaglass Village.

Quagrello’s appointment follows the retirement of Alyce Deveau, who had served as executive director since Seaglass Village was founded in 2021. Deveau announced her retirement in June. Quagrello will officially begin her role as the executive director on Monday, July 28.

“Anne’s qualifications and experience are a perfect match for Seaglass Village, said Izzi Abrams, the president of the Seaglass Village Board of Directors. “She has the right combination of passion, technical knowhow, and community connections to help us move forward with our potential expansion into Salem.”

Quagrello graduated from Swampscott High School and then went on to the University of Rhode Island, according to her LinkedIn profile. Most recently, she served as the internship coordinator at the nonprofit business management consulting organization NPOC Services.

She has served on the Swampscott Middle School Council as well as the Andrews Chapel Restoration Committee. She also previously served as the activities coordinator at the Swampscott Senior Center.

“I am thrilled to be joining Seaglass Village,” Quagrello said. “While at the Senior Center, I built meaningful relationships with residents and developed services that directly supported their independence and wellbeing. I am honored to contribute my experience and passion to Seaglass and help lead its continued growth and outreach.”

Seaglass Village is a local nonprofit that supports older adults in maintaining their independence. Membership, which is available to those aged 50 and older, includes access to a variety of volunteer-delivered services and programs. These include transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores and other errands. The organization serves Swampscott, Nahant and Marblehead, with plans under consideration to expand into Salem.
