After winning their first playoff game on Wednesday, Swampscott High School’s girls lacrosse team moved on in the bracket to face 3rd Seed Nashoba Regional High School on Friday.
The 19th Seed Big Blue fought hard but eventually lost 9-7, bringing their season to an end with a record of 14-5.
“We played well,” said Swampscott Head Coach Al Eaton. “Going up against the third seed, we were counted out before the game even started.”
The Big Blue held Nashoba to under 10 goals, just the second time all season the Wolves failed to score double digit goals.
Senior Goaltender Lilah Caplan saved 10 Nashoba shot attempts from hitting the net, keeping the game close.
“I’m proud of the effort we put out there,” said Eaton.
Cecelia Tripp, Victoria Pierro and Bridget Urbano scored two goals apiece and Quinn Kelleher added a goal of her own.
Eaton said he will remember the season and the 2026 team fondly.
“It’s been a great group of young women,” said Eaton. “They always play for each other, unselfishly.”
The entire roster navigated the season with a mindset of “what can I do to help the team,” Eaton said.
“You can’t have long-term success in the program if it all revolves around one player,” said Eaton. “When we were attacking this year, everyone was dangerous and was capable of scoring. They played like a team all year.”
