We are now in the last few weeks of our first Good News Challenge fundraiser and if you are among the 137 generous donors who’ve already made a gift to this challenge, please accept my deepest thanks.
And we’ve made great progress since November 1 — we have reached 80% of our $25,000 matching funds and only need to raise an additional $5,000 to turn $25,000 into $50,000.
That’s not all the good news either. So far, 40 new donors have contributed to the Good News Campaign and if we can drum up 10 more new donors in these last few weeks, the Institute for Nonprofit News will give an additional $1,000 towards our campaign.
As a subscriber to the Swampscott Tides, you likely have read many of the 400 stories that have appeared in the Catch of the Week. And, we will be publishing many more in 2026. We are a non-profit newsroom, representing a new breed of journalism, here to serve the public good. And, the Swampscott Tides has quickly become an integral part of our community fabric.
The Swampscott Tides is free to everyone who visits our website or who subscribes to the Catch of the Week, but we need to fund the operations necessary to gather, write and report that news.
Through December 31st, your tax-deductible gift, up to $1000, will be DOUBLED thanks to the generosity of the Institute for Nonprofit News, the Barr Foundation and two local families who jointly funded the campaign’s $25,000 capped challenge pool.
So, if you have not yet had a chance to make your own gift, please consider taking just a few moments to DONATE NOW knowing that you will play a key role in our continuing ability to provide independent news about Swampscott, for Swampscott in 2026.
To have an even bigger impact, consider becoming a monthly donor! The entire year of each new monthly commiment will qualify for the match, again up to $1000. (For example, your $20 monthly gift becomes $40 per month or $480 for the year).
Thank you for being part of the Swampscott Tides community and considering our request.
