Swampscott resident Francine Gardikas has been named a top woman of law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Gardikas earned her bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. She is currently a partner at Bowditch & Dewey. The firm has over 60 lawyers in Boston, Framingham, Plymouth and Worcester.
She joined Bowditch & Dewey in 2024 after more than 20 years at a midsize Boston firm, where she handled all aspects of divorce and family law, including child custody disputes, prenuptial agreements, alimony, and child support.
“I’m incredibly honored to be recognized among such a distinguished group of women making a difference in the legal community,” Gardikas said. “This recognition is particularly meaningful to me as a family law practitioner. I have the privilege of helping families navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives, and this award underscores the importance of compassionate and dedicated advocacy in our field.”
Over the past year, Gardikas has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, the Super Lawyers list, and Boston Magazine’s Top Lawyers list. In the past, she has also presented on topics such as mental health and divorce, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on probate and family courts, and recent case law developments.
Gardikas is a member of several professional organizations, including the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers, the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators, and the Greater Boston Family Law American Inn of Court.
She also provides pro bono representation through Attorneys Representing Children, volunteering to advocate for children in court.
“Francine’s recognition as a one of the Top Women of the Law is a testament to her passion, care, and expertise in family law,” said Kristin Shirahama, private client practice area leader at Bowditch. “Francine has proven to be a fierce advocate for her clients and has built an exceptional reputation in the legal community. This award is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her impact.”
