SantaCon Takes Over Humphrey Street Bars

In what is supposed to be a busy time in the North Pole, Santa Claus was spotted drinking a martini on Humphrey Street.

Dozens dressed in Santa Claus hats, sweaters and even full suits circled around a bar at Mission on the Bay, the first stop of the Swampscott Yacht Club’s SantaCon bar crawl.

The event served as a fundraiser for Toys for Local Children, raising over $2,300 for the organization that ensures families have gifts and clothes for the holiday season.

After the group finished up at Mission on the Bay, the crawl took them to Little G, Cafe Avalino, Njord Haven and Dockside Pub.

The night capped off with live music and more festivities at the Swampscott Yacht Club.

Swampscott Yacht Club member Monica Lagerquist said the SantaCon was inspired by other nearby towns hosting similar events.

“So here we are,” said Lagerquist while seated at Mission on the Bay. “It’s awesome. It’s a nice thing to do for the town. It raises money for a good cause.”
