Holiday Cheer Lights Up Swampscott With Parade, Tree Lighting, Festive Fair

The holiday spirit rolled through Swampscott as the Swampscott Police Association hosted its annual holiday parade, bringing festive cheer to neighborhoods across town.

Police cruisers, fire trucks, ambulances, and Santa Claus himself made their way down Essex, Burrill, Paradise, Vinnin, Salem, and Humphrey Streets, delighting residents along the route.

Festivities continued over at Town Hall, where the Recreation Department hosted a holiday fair on the lawn.

Shoppers browsed under twinkling lights as the town tree was officially lit, and children enjoyed rides around the area on a kiddie fire truck. Inside Town Hall, beautifully decorated gingerbread houses were on display, adding a cozy seasonal touch.

Mrs. Claus was on hand to greet children, accompanied by her donkey “reindeers” from Minis with a Mission. The not-for-profit organization also offered bags of reindeer feed for donation – sweet feed mixed with edible glitter, “meant to go on the lawn for Rudolph and his friends.”

Seasonal treats were plentiful, with food and desserts available from Hungry Nomads, Isabella’s Ice Cream, and Crepe du Jour. Big Blue Baseball sold hot chocolate and other goodies, while the Swampscott High School Class of 2027 held a fundraiser alongside a Big Blue merchandise table.

Adding to the festive shopping experience were a variety of artisan vendors, including Waffle Cat Crafts, Odd Cod Studios, and Miguel’s Handiwork. Rounding out the holiday cheer, a local Girl Scouts troop sold cookies, making the celebration a true community affair.
