Swampscott High School’s Team 4311 robotics team recently competed at the New England District North Shore Event in Reading.
“The goal of this year’s game is to collect a bunch of yellow balls on the field, called fuel, and to score them into one main goal,” said Aiden Tat, captain of the robotics team.
Swampscott’s robot, the Current, finished in ninth place out of 38 teams during qualifications. The group became the captain of the seventh seeded alliance during playoffs.
The team also finished in ninth place again during the qualification round at the Greater Boston District Event in Revere. They also became captain during this competition.
Now, the Swampscott robotics team is headed to compete in the district championship this weekend in Springfield. There will be 100 teams competing for the chance to compete at the world championships in Houston.
“We’re excited for the competition this week,” Tat said.
