After almost two decades of service on Humphrey Street, Lincoln’s Landing is facing eviction.
Lincoln’s Landing is a longtime breakfast and lunch restaurant in Swampscott known for its classic American breakfast fare, casual neighborhood atmosphere and generous portions. Ashley Mantyla, daughter of Lincoln’s Landing owner Laurie, announced on Facebook Wednesday that the restaurant had received an eviction notice.
“I never imagined I’d be writing a post like this, but after 19 years in our current location, we are facing eviction from the space our business has called home,” Mantyla posted. “This has been incredibly difficult for my mother, our family and our employees. The stress, financial uncertainty and emotional toll have been overwhelming”
Mantyla declined to comment further when reached by the Swampscott Tides.
Alexandros Tsitos is listed as the plaintiff. The Swampscott Tides reached out to his attorney. Court documents suggest Lincoln’s Landing has not paid its rent in three months.
“Small businesses are the heart of a community, yet they can be especially vulnerable when disputes with landlords arise,” Mantyla wrote. “Regardless of the circumstances, losing a long-time business location can have a devastating impact – not only on the owners but also on the employees and loyal customers who have supported the business for years.”
Lincoln’s Landing is known for its pancakes and waffles, omelets and home fries. The location is right on the ocean, and it often has guests waiting out of the door for a spot on the weekend.
“Lincoln’s Landing has proudly served this community for more than 50 years, and our greatest hope is to continue to do so,” Mantyla said, asking the community to share information about any available retail or commercial spaces for lease. “Thank you for your kindness, support and for helping us keep Lincoln’s Landing a part of this wonderful community.”
There is a court date on July 23 on the matter.
