Boston Sports Medicine’s Swampscott branch serves a diverse group of patients with a wide range of needs. From competitive dancers and high school football players to seniors and individuals dealing with dizziness, the clinic offers care tailored to many different conditions.

The Swampscott site is one of 10 locations operated by Boston Sports Medicine. Situated on Humphrey Street, the clinic focuses on going beyond traditional physical therapy services to meet patients where they are.

“We see everybody,” said Boston Sports Medicine Physical Therapist and Swampscott native KC Butt. “That’s a really cool part about this clinic.”

Butt noted that the clinic even offers specialized programs, including one designed for women during and after pregnancy. Another service available is dry needling, a treatment aimed at improving mobility and promoting tissue healing.

In addition to physical therapists, the Swampscott team includes athletic trainers and exercise science specialists. The diverse staff allows the clinic to provide a wide range of rehabilitation and performance services to help patients recover and stay active.

During the week, many Swampscott High School athletes stop by after classes and practices, along with a steady number of dancers.

“We have private rooms and an open gym area,” said Butt. The open gym is full of weights, medicine balls, elastic bands and all sorts of other equipment, some standard and some unique.

Butt explained that the space is adaptable for many types of therapy and training, though the clinic continues to look for ways to expand.

“We have everything that is needed to educate people on how to exercise,” said Butt.

Beyond general physical therapy, Butt also specializes in treating temporomandibular disorders (TMD), which affect the jaw and can lead to pain and headaches.

“It’s cool to learn different flavors of therapy from others,” said Butt. “We have a great group of therapists. You learn new things everyday.”

The welcoming atmosphere and the team’s varied expertise contribute to a positive experience for both patients and staff, according to Butt.

“The staff here, from the front desk to the therapists make this a great experience for customers,” said Butt.
