Pomona Cafe and Wine Bar on Humphrey Street unveiled a new look to the public on Friday as an additional side consisting of a bar and dining room fully opened.

A bouquet of balloons lined the doorway to the newly opened space as customers filed in to sit down for breakfast. In the afternoon, Pomona closed to celebrate the addition with family and friends of the owners and staff.

Owner Felipe Sabogal said opening the other side of the business is a relief after a long process of preparing the space.

“A year of paying rent for a space you’re not using is very tough,” said Sabogal. “Me and my wife had a very challenging year, but it’s definitely worth it.”

Sabogal said he was looking forward to seeing his friends and family and showing them what he and his wife have been working on for the last year.

“We woke up this morning with smiles on our faces after all the hard work we put in,” said Sabogal. “I can’t really describe the feeling.”

Pomona Cafe is located at 128 Humphrey St. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
