Swampscott has issued a snow emergency ahead of a forecasted snowstorm, with a town-wide parking ban in effect from Friday, February 20 at 10 p.m. until Saturday, February 21 at 8 a.m.
All vehicles must be removed from town streets during this time to avoid ticketing or towing. Resident parking will be available at Hawthorne and Phillips Park.
Town officials also reminded property owners that they are responsible for clearing snow from adjoining sidewalks or risk being ticketed.
According to Windy, which uses global, high-resolution regional, and European weather models, Swampscott is expected to receive approximately 8 inches of snow between 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
The town is also monitoring a secondary storm coming to the area late Sunday and into Monday. Windy suggests that storm will start at 10 p.m. on Sunday and last through 4 a.m. Tuesday, with 8.7 inches of snow.
