State Auditor Diana DiZoglio Endorses Jamie Belsito in Crowded 6th District Congressional Race

State Auditor Diana DiZoglio has endorsed Jamie Belsito in the race for the 6th Congressional District seat.

“I believe we need a fierce advocate for this district going to D.C. to fight our battles. We have a lot of challenges we are facing,” DiZoglio said. “Our democracy is under attack. We need bold, visionary leaders who don’t forget where they came from.”

The 6th District’s congressional seat is up for grabs after Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) announced he would challenge Sen. Edward Markey in the Democratic primary ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. There are seven Democrats  – Bethany Andres-Beck, John Beccia, Jamie Belsito, Rick Jakious, Dan Koh, Mariah Lancaster and Ram Nguyen – along with Republican Micah Jones.

Belsito is a former state representative for the 4th Essex District and currently serves as town moderator in Topsfield. A Reading native who now lives in Topsfield, she founded the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance, where she worked on federal initiatives supporting mothers and families.

She unsuccessfully ran against Moulton in 2020.

“The working people of Massachusetts deserve someone who is going to stand up to special interests,” DiZoglio said.

At a debate February 28, Belsito spoke about how it’s “absolutely unconscionable” for her to have needed to take on $20,000 for her child’s health. She called bipartisanship “a nice theory,” calling for Congress to step up, and she noted that seniors are “taking the brunt of these continued impacts of these property taxes.”

Belsito has also called on her opponents to join her in taking the People’s Pledge,  a commitment to reject money from corporate Political Action Committees (PACs), Super PACs, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), billionaires and corporate executives.

The FEC reports Belsito raised $77,023.55 from October 1 to December 31. Individual contributions account for $52,023.55, and she has received $1,348.55 from candidate contributions. $25,000 is from a loan made by Belsito.

Belsito has also been endorsed by Anthony Rinaldi, city councilor from Amesbury; Julie Flowers, city council president in Beverly; Dylan Benson, a city councilor from Gloucester; Tom Myers, a member of the Select Board in Hamilton; Carlo Baccio, Reading Select Board member; and Marshall Hook, Topsfield Select Board vice chair.

“I have a proven track record of showing up, listening to our community and getting things done. I’m always looking for a way to deliver results, because this community deserves leaders who fight for them and get the job done,” Belsito said. “Our country has the wealth to make health care affordable, strengthen our schools and support families. What we’ve been missing isn’t money. It’s leadership willing to stand up to billionaires and corporate power. It’s political will to do the right thing.”
