Swampscott High Film Students to Premiere Original Works in Public Screening

Swampscott High School film students will screen their work Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m.

Friday’s event will be held in the high school auditorium and will serve as the culmination of the students’ work this year.

The screening has taken place in various locations in the past, including the TV studio as well as the Middle School bowl. This year, with the upgrades to the Swampscott High School auditorium, the students and Media Arts Instructor JoE Douillette decided it was the best place to hold the screening.

“The auditorium finally offers an experience that is worthy of my students’ work,” Douilette said.

The 90-minute screening will feature the work of 28 students. It is free and open to the public.

Students from several classes will present their work.Digital Film 1 students will showcase their first sync-sound projects. Digital Film 2 and 3 students, along with Media Arts Lab students, will present independent projects including live-action dramas, animated shorts, and documentaries.

Media Arts Lab is an honors-level class for students who want to take their work to the next level by dedicating extra time outside of class and mentoring newer students. Several seniors in the program will continue to explore film and television production in higher education.
