The Swampscott Police Department received a report of potentially suspicious items at the station Saturday.

The items were examined for suspicious or foreign substances, and authorities determined there was no threat to the public, the Swampscott Police Department told the Swampscott Tides. There is currently no information about what type of items were examined.

Around 11:06 a.m., the Swampscott Fire Department responded to the police station. The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Hazardous Materials Response team also responded and evaluated the scene.

Massachusetts State Police were notified of the situation as well.
