After finishing the regular season with an undefeated 8-0 record, Brady’s Bunch kept up their hot streak in the second annual Summer Snaps title game, ending Thursday night with championship rings on their fingers.

The team won handedly, as they had for most of the season. Brady’s Bunch quarterback Kim Eldred attributed the success of the team to being familiar with one another.

“Connections between the players,” Eldred said. “A couple of the girls I knew, we had played together. We had good team vibes.”

“It was so much fun coming out here every Thursday and playing,” said Eldred, who was a first time Summer Snaps player.

Eldred said it’s rare to find a women’s flag football league in the area with ten teams.

“It’s a great league. We had so much fun,” she said.

The bleachers of Blocksidge Field were filled with fans, children and players from other Summer Snaps teams. All were eager to cheer on touchdowns and big plays happening down on the field, creating an energetic environment.

Swampscott Recreation Director Charlotte Daher de Garcia said the quick growth of the league has been unbelievable, with 131 players taking part in just the league’s second season.

“This year we had to turn teams away because we had so much interest,” said Daher de Garcia.

Next season Summer Snaps may add even more teams, or split separate into two divisions based on skill and experience levels.

“I think we’ll expand the league a little bit further and think about doing divisions,” said Daher de Garcia. “We want to make sure everyone can play. Recreation is about being inclusive to all. We want to make sure we address the wants and needs of the league.”
