Swampscott has issued a snow emergency ahead of a forecasted snowstorm, with a town-wide parking ban in effect Saturday, February 7, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All vehicles must be removed from town streets during this time to avoid ticketing or towing. Resident parking will be available at Hawthorne and Phillips Park.

Town officials also reminded property owners that they are responsible for clearing snow from adjoining sidewalks or risk being ticketed.

According to Windy, which uses global, high-resolution regional, and European weather models, Swampscott is expected to receive approximately 1.8 inches of snow between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, as of publication

The Swampscott Recreation Department will not host basketball at the Swampscott Middle School. Classes at the Clarke School, however, are canceled, as of noon on Saturday. All programs, including InclYOUsion, Super Soccer Stars and Robothink, will be rescheduled at a future time.

The Swampscott Public Library is closed on Saturday.

The Galentine’s Day event at Mission on the Bay is still on.
