Swampscott Public Schools Superintendent Jason Calichman unveiled the calendar for the 2026-27 school year at Thursday’s School Committee meeting.

The first day for staff will be on Monday, August 31. The first day of school for students is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2. Kindergarten’s first day school is Thursday, September 10.

There won’t be school, however, on Friday, September 4 or Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

There also will be no school on Monday, September 21 for Yom Kippur.

Winter Break begins with a half-day on Wednesday, December 23. Students will not return to classes until Monday, January 4.

February Break is Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 19, around Presidents’ Day.

A change to the school calendar next year is that Good Friday, March 26, 2027, will be a half-day of school.

April Break will be Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23, around Patriots’ Day.

The school year, before taking cancellations into consideration, will end on Wednesday, June 16, 2027.
