Grace Morrison and Andie Maregni will represent Swampscott’s Burke’s Tumbling Academy at the Regional Championships this weekend.
“As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of these girls,” said coach Sam Amico. “Having one athlete qualify for regionals for the first time at BTA is already a huge accomplishment, but having two, including one competing for the state team, is something truly special.”
Morrison, a Level 7 gymnast from Swampscott and a tenth-grade student, finished third overall in the state. She is among the top 36 athletes in her division advancing to regionals at the MassMutual Center on Friday.
Maregni, a Level 6 gymnast from Marblehead and a seventh grader, ranked 14th in the state, qualifying among the top 32 athletes in her division. She will compete at the MassMutual Center on Sunday.

“Their dedication to the sport is incredible,” Amico said. “They’re in the gym five days a week, pushing themselves to improve with every single practice. The effort, discipline and hear they bring doesn’t go unnoticed. ‘Hard work pays off’ feels like an understatement. We are really excited to see these girls shine this upcoming weekend.”
To qualify for regionals, the athletes had to go through a multi-step process, Amico said. This year, every gymnast from Burke’s Tumbling Academy qualified for the state meet, which Amico called “a significant accomplishment.”

At states, athletes competed for a limited number of regional spots based on their all-around scores.
“My hope for Grace and Andie as they head into regionals is to focus on what they love most about the sport: the fun, the challenge, and what keeps them coming back every day,” owner Jen Burke DeMagistris said. “At the same time, staying grounded in what matters most: family, school, and overall well-being. With that perspective, everything else will fall into place. While standing on that regional floor, I hope they take a moment to step back, and truly take it all in. Enjoy it. Smile. It’s something they’ve worked incredibly hard for.”
From the state meet, the top seven athletes in each level were selected to form a “Super Team” for Massachusetts. Those gymnasts will represent Team Massachusetts at regionals, competing against top athletes from Region 6, which includes Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

“On behalf of our entire Burke’s family: our coaches, staff, athletes, and teammates we are so proud of you,” DeMagistris said. “There’s no doubt you will represent Massachusetts and Burke’s with everything we stand for this weekend at regionals. We love you.”
