Fourth Graders Celebrate End of Elementary School in Step-Up Ceremony

Proud families || Monica Sager

There were smiles, cheers, and a few tears at Swampscott Elementary School’s moving up ceremony as fourth graders celebrated the end of their elementary school years and looked ahead to middle school. Each student was recognized to loud applause from a crowd of proud family members and friends.

The students also marked the occasion with music, singing songs including Kiss the Sky. In remarks to the audience, they thanked “all the incredible people at Swampscott Elementary School who have supported us since kindergarten,” giving special recognition to their seven fourth-grade teachers, whom they called “heroes.”

As they prepare to move into the middle school building next year, the students reflected on the friendships, lessons, and memories they have made along the way.
