The Swampscott Health Department will be holding a “regular” flu clinic for adults aged 18 and older on Thursday, October 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Senior Center.
“The Swampscott Health Department continues to encourage residents to get a flu shot to protect themselves, their family, their friends, and our community,” said Neia Illingworth, public health nurse. “There is still time for residents to get their flu shot so that they are protected during the fall, the winter, and the respiratory virus season.”
Residents must register online to reserve an appointment: home.color.com/vaccine/register/swampscott?site=swampscott-regular-flu-clinic-ages-18-at-sr-c-5131
Attendees should bring their insurance cards and wear short sleeves for easy access to the upper arm.
Health officials recommend flu vaccination for all eligible individuals. While forecasts suggest a moderately severe flu season, the virus remains a contagious threat to the respiratory system. In the United States, flu season typically runs from October through March, peaking in December and February.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, current influenza-like illness activity is minimal, and the estimated severity remains low.
Vaccine manufacturers have informed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that up to 154 million flu vaccine doses will be available nationwide this season.
Most insurance plans cover the cost of the flu vaccine.
If residents can’t attend the October 23 clinic, they’re encouraged to check with their primary care provider or local pharmacy for other flu shot options. Additional regional clinics are listed at northshorepublichealth.com/post/2025-regional-flu-vaccination-clinics.
