Becky Brandt, a Swampscott native, now gets to see her artwork driving around town this summer.
Brandt, who participates in a lot of the art sales around town and volunteers on the Swampscott Cultural Council, said her friend had approached Swampscott Recreation Director Charlotte Daher de Garcia to get Brandt’s work on this summer’s beach sticker.
“It was very simple,” Brandt said. “When I was young in college, I had a dream of having my work on license plates. I had met someone who had their work on license plates so (my friend) was like ‘next best thing, a beach sticker.’ It makes me happy.”
Brandt received a bachelors of fine arts from the Maine College of Art. She now owns Nurture Massage and Wellness in Marblehead, where she said she tries to feature local artists and her own work. She also serves on the Swampscott Cultural Council.
“(Art) is something that I incorporate into everything that I do,” Brandt said. “I try to tap into my creative side.”
The sticker Brandt created features two shells next to each other, almost in the shape of a heart. She said she likes to focus on “repetitive themes of everyday objects,” and she incorporated the shells to “highlight the everyday objects that we see and blow them up to a bigger size and make them more appreciated.”
“It goes along with the mundane theme. Now, I’ll see my own sticker everywhere,” Brandt said, adding that her mom is one of the people helping to give out stickers at Town Hall.
Parking stickers are for:
- Preston Beach: Northbound side of Atlantic Avenue to the Marblehead line

- Whales / Eisman’s / New Ocean House: Parking lot next to the Phillips Park football field
- Fisherman’s Beach: Parking lot adjacent to the Fish House
- Recreation Parking: One side of Columbia Street next to the railroad station
Stickers must be placed on the outside of the vehicle, on the rear window behind the driver.
Vehicles parked without a valid sticker are subject to a $75 fine. Vehicles displaying a handicapped placard are exempt from sticker requirements.
No sticker is required for parking along Humphrey Street.
Stickers must be purchased in person at Town Hall during the following hours:
