As the orange and yellow colors of fall fade, Swampscott High School student athletes turn their attention to the start of winter sports season. The fall sports season, however, proved successful for many of Swampscott’s varsity teams and athletes.
Five Swampscott programs finished their season as champions of the Northeastern Conference (NEC): boys and girls soccer, volleyball, boys cross country and football.
“I think the season went extremely well,” said Swampscott Athletic Director Kelly Wolff. “Every team improved throughout the tournament, and all of our student athletes represented our school positively.”
Dozens of Big Blue athletes were named to NEC all-star and all-conference teams. Swampscott coaches also gave out awards for performance and hard work.
On the golf course, Tyler Ostroff was named to the all-conference team, and Michael Collins was named an all-star. Ostroff and Collins finished 12th and 17th respectively out of the 89 golfers at the MIAA state championships. Team most valuable player (MVP) honors went to Ostroff, who is only a sophomore.
Many cross country runners set personal best times over the course of the 2025 season. Simon Brown and Atticus Jakious were named all-conference runners for boys. Anthony Colella and Lincoln Geaney were all-stars.
On the girls side, Annabelle Averett made the all-conference team. Brown and Averett were named MVPs of their respective teams.
In field hockey, Lila Giard made the all-conference team. Nola Conley and Shea Connery earned all-star nods. Giard was named the team’s MVP on offense. Conley received the defensive MVP.
For the league champion girls soccer team, Greta Siefkin made all-conference. Cecelia Tripp, Eve Byrne and Jane Raymond, a trio of juniors, were all-stars.
For the boys, Milad Sassin, George Spellios and Nico Croft were all-stars. Spellios was named player of the year for the team.
Reese Schaiberger was an all-conference volleyball player while Marta Sirota, Lila Paster and Lauren Paul were all stars. Paster was the team’s most valuable hitter and Sirota was the defensive MVP.
Six Swampscott football players made the all-conference team on the way to the playoffs: Will Bush, Vaughn Hazell, Noah Bascon, John von Barta, Doyle Delano and John Dilisio. Chase Groothius, Jack Duffy and Luke Michigan earned NEC all-star honors.
Jailys Jaquez was the lone all-star on the Big Blue cheer team. The squad finished in third place in October’s Wildcat Invitational.
