Swampscott’s football team will take the field against Marblehead on Thursday morning for the storied Thanksgiving rivalry game.
“Please come out and support our team,” Director of Athletics Kelly Wolff said. “It is a great opportunity to see friends and classmates, listen to our band, see our cheer team perform and watch some great high school football!”
The Swampscott-Marblehead Thanksgiving tradition dates back to 1910. The teams have met 114 times on the holiday, with Marblehead winning 59 of those matchups and six ending in ties. Aside from the COVID-19 year without a Thanksgiving game, Marblehead has held the holiday winning streak since 2013, but Swampscott has a chance to change that this year.
Kickoff is at 10 a.m. at Piper Field at Marblehead High School, at 2 Humphrey St. Big Blue fans should enter through the high school parking lot rather than the post office.
Tickets must be purchased using credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, as cash will not be accepted at the gate. Fans are encouraged to buy tickets ahead of time at gofan.co/event/1676058?schoolId=MA14627.
Those celebrating Thanksgiving from home can watch the game live via the livestream link, at youtube.com/live/5hEFE4p9FgY?feature=share
“I hope to see you all at Piper Field Thursday and have a great Thanksgiving,” Wolff said. “Go Big Blue!”
