Swampscott PorchFest returns August 29, and organizers are seeking musicians, singers, bands of all genres — and porch hosts — to participate.
PorchFest is a celebration of music and community, transforming porches into stages and local residents into performers for one afternoon. Audience members stroll from porch to porch to listen, sing, dance and connect with friends and neighbors.
The event will run Saturday, August 29 from noon to 6 p.m., with Sunday, August 30 as the rain date.
Anyone interested in hosting can sign up at swampscottporchfest.org. The opportunity is open to residents who have a porch, stoop, front lawn or driveway.
Bands may also perform in driveways or front yards. If a home does not have a covered porch, organizers ask hosts to provide a canopy to protect musicians’ equipment in case of rain.
Hosts can perform on their own porches, invite a friend to play or be paired with a band by organizers
Performances can range from solo musicians to full bands. Poetry, spoken word and dance performances are also encouraged.
Performers can also sign up at swampscottporchfest.org by submitting a brief description of their act, its genre and their preferred performance times.
A schedule and map of participating artists will be posted online after registration closes.
