Swampscott couple Alex and Anastasia Manuelian are looking to redefine what walls can do.
“We love interiors. We love creating experiences,” Anastasia said. “But we kept staring at blank walls in our Airbnb properties thinking ‘There has to be something better than wallpaper or decals.’”
She said wallpaper felt limiting and murals weren’t scalable. A solution finally came when Anastasia saw a Facebook ad for a vertical wall printer.
The Manuelians have launched Wall Ink Boston, a company that uses vertical printing technology to seamlessly brand spaces with custom designs, artwork, photos, logos and murals. The vertical print allows for custom art within people’s homes and businesses.

Wall Ink Boston uses a portable vertical printer that can be brought directly into homes and businesses. Once installed, the system can begin printing on nearly any vertical surface, including drywall, brick, stucco, glass, tile or exterior facades.
“If it’s vertical, we can print it,” Alex said.
The ink is vegan and instantly cured with an ultraviolet light. This ensures there is no drying time and no mess. Anastasia said the finished product remains in excellent condition for more than 10 years.
The possibilities are also endless. The printer can produce both images and text, ranging from simple business hours and logos to large, showroom-stopping pieces and even butterflies and unicorns in a nursery. Anastasia even called it making the business “into a destination.”
Some options can be seen at Wall Ink Boston’s Instagram page, @wallink_boston.
“We are excited to just make this world a bit more beautiful,” Anastasia said.
The couple has practiced on their own AirBnb’s, Anastasia said, and they’re seeing the potential the product has.

“We are both artsy people,” Anastasia said. “My husband is an engineer, and I’m into sales, but we always have a bunch of different projects we like to do. When we started an AirBnb business. We constantly were looking for something to make our AirBnbs unique. In order to stand out, we realized that art and interior design were two things that bring revenue to your AirBnb. We’ve experimented with different properties here in Massachusetts and in Florida.”
The idea goes beyond just aesthetics. Anastasia said that Wall Ink Boston is able to provide a “selfie magnet” for people to instantly want to take photos and post them because of the unforgettable statements they make.
“Your wall can attract customers,” Anastasia said. “It becomes part of your brand.”
She called it “free advertising,” noting that customers often share the designs on social media, making businesses more attractive and visible.
“It’s a win-win,” Anastasia said.
Going forward, Anastasia also said the couple would love to partner with artists.
“Not all artists can provide wall murals. They have paintings, but they would love to sell more,” Anastasia said. “I would collaborate with them and clients can purchase a particular image from a particular artist and we will just print it for them on the walls.”
Projects start at $600, and Wall Ink Boston can be contacted for consultations at 617-514-6995 or at an.manuelian@gmail.com.
